KT Millie expands audiobook content, targets listening-and-reading ecosystem

KT Millie said on May 29 it is diversifying audiobook content and revamping its platform to expand its reading ecosystem. The company is combining audiobooks with text-based reading experiences through cooperation with publishers. It released an e-book version of author Kim Geum-hee’s audiobook “First Summer, Wanju.” The strategy is extending to its reading podcast and to service changes for children and teens, including a revamped kids audiobook page and expanded curated recommendations.

KT first-quarter operating profit 482.7 billion won, down 29.9 percent year on year

KT posted first-quarter consolidated revenue of 6.78 trillion won and operating profit of 482.7 billion won, down 1.0 percent and 29.9 percent from a year earlier. The profit fell due to base effects from one-off gains last year, though improved results at KT Estate and content affiliates eased the decline. KT also announced shareholder return plans for 2026 to 2028, including a minimum annual dividend of 2,400 won per share in 2026.

KT has named longtime insider Park Yun-young as CEO, approving his appointment at a shareholder meeting. The company is moving quickly on executive reshuffles and organisational streamlining, including a broader regional structure and simplified reporting lines. KT also plans to bolster AI-based B2B business through a new AX division and integrate its media unit into the customer division.
