SMEs ministry sets AI factory goal to drive manufacturing AX for small firms
South Korea\'s Ministry of SMEs and Startups has set building AI factories as a new policy goal to drive manufacturing innovation among small and medium-sized firms. Minister Han Sung-sook said smart factories should be upgraded into AI-autonomous plants, citing results such as lower defect rates and higher productivity. The ministry plans to standardise and expand collection of manufacturing data by 2030 and shift to package support combining grants, loans and guarantees.

KAIST secures technology to build national radiomap using Wi-Fi
KAIST said a research team led by computer science professor Dongsoo Han (한동수) has developed a core technology to build a nationwide wireless LAN radiomap by combining smartphone Wi-Fi signals with real address information. The technique automatically links Wi-Fi signals collected during app use with the address of the location, enabling signal-pattern maps to accumulate over time and improve accuracy. KAIST said it can provide precise positioning even where GPS is weak, and could help reduce location errors in emergencies.

FortyTwoMaru develops AI-based literacy improvement solution
Generative AI startup FortyTwoMaru said on Tuesday it has completed development of an AI-based personalised Korean learning service to improve literacy, supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology. Led by CommunicationBooks with a consortium including Siwon School and Intube, the project aims to provide an integrated online service covering assessment, reading content, learning analysis and recommendations.
