AI efficiency gains fuel \'quiet quitting\' trend in AI era
Some office workers are cutting work time with AI but not telling their companies, as a belief spreads that higher efficiency brings more tasks without matching rewards. A Japanese worker saved about 10 hours a month by automating summaries and documents but kept it private. A 2025 Ivanti survey found 32 percent of AI users hid productivity gains, citing competitive advantage and job-cut fears. Japanese data showed most saved time was reinvested into work.

Japan consumers complain about iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo prices
Japanese consumers are increasingly voicing concerns about the cost of Apple’s iPhone 18 series and its first foldable model, the iPhone Duo. In Japan, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at 219,800 yen and the iPhone Duo at 364,800 yen, with higher storage versions priced up to 574,800 yen. Complaints also focus on price increases for older models and claims that Japan prices reflect an unfavorable yen-dollar exchange rate.

Jacob Coxon said the gap between industry awareness of risks and development speed is widening and warned AI could be uncontrollable by late next year. He said executives privately show fear and argued decisions about an AI “endgame” should not rest with any single company.
