Japan\'s KDDI turns Lawson stores and post offices into drone bases
Japan\'s mobile carrier KDDI is accelerating plans to build a nationwide drone infrastructure by using post offices and Lawson convenience stores as drone bases. Its unit KDDI SmartDrone plans to expand droneports where drones can take off, land and charge, and make them shared infrastructure for companies and local governments. KDDI has tested direct communications between drones and SpaceX\'s Starlink and aims to start services in 2027.

Japan personal data leaks or risk affect 260 million people
Japan has tallied a cumulative 260 million people whose personal information was leaked or at risk of leaking due to unauthorised access since April, more than twice the country’s population, according to data released by the Personal Information Protection Commission. The commission received 2,094 reports between April 1 and Oct. 16. Reports surged in October, though the figures are based on filing dates and include duplicate counts.

Japan\'s Kawasaki Heavy Industries is seeking to commercialise CORLEO, a ride-on quadruped walking mobility device designed to travel on mountain paths, by 2035. Originally conceived as a concept model imagining transport in 2050, it moved toward real development after drawing more interest than expected. The company is running it as a project reporting directly to the CEO. CORLEO uses electricity generated by a hydrogen engine and is steered by shifts in the rider’s centre of gravity.
