Study finds League of Legends may boost some cognitive skills more than turn-based card game

A study found the real-time competitive game League of Legends may have a greater effect on improving some cognitive abilities than a turn-based strategy card game. Researchers compared League of Legends with Sanguosha in a five-month trial in which 68 university students played for an hour a day, five days a week. Both groups improved across cognitive tasks, but the League of Legends group performed better on tasks requiring rapid judgment and tracking multiple targets, with differences persisting 10 weeks after play ended.
