Unitree CEO says humanoid robots\' inflection point not far off, within 10 years at latest
The humanoid robot industry could face a “ChatGPT moment” in 2 to 3 years under ideal conditions, or in 5 to 10 years if progress is slow, Unitree CEO Wang Xingxing (Wang Xingxing) said at the World Robot Conference in Beijing. He set a goal of robots completing about 80 percent of tasks in new homes or workplaces using voice and text commands. He also pointed to technical limits and bottlenecks, while views on timing vary across the industry.

China robots dominate 97% of global shipments, but profitability still elusive
China’s robot industry is moving beyond flashy demonstrations and into a commercialisation phase marked by large-scale deployment at industrial sites. At this year’s World Robot Conference in Beijing, usability and profitability emerged as central themes. Morgan Stanley estimates China accounted for 97% of global humanoid robot shipments in the first half. But manufacturers still face pressure to prove reliability, autonomy and economic value, while profitability and product maturity remain unresolved.

Tesla short sellers made $9 billion, but current profit or loss is unclear
Short sellers in Tesla booked about $9.008 billion in mark-to-market gains after the stock’s sharp fall, an analysis showed. The figure was calculated immediately after the July 23 drop and does not represent the group’s real-time profit or loss as of August. Tesla later fell further before rebounding. The company’s second-quarter results, weak operating profit, negative free cash flow and heavy spending on long-term projects weighed on the shares.
