Ryu Jae-cheol (류재철) says LG Electronics making physical AI bet to drive meaningful change
Ryu Jae-cheol, CEO of LG Electronics, hosted a North America Tech Conference in San Francisco on Aug. 29 to secure overseas R&D talent, the company said. About 100 participants attended, including PhD researchers from major U.S. universities and experienced R&D staff from big tech and startups. LG Electronics presented robotics, AI data center cooling and mobility as key growth pillars based on physical AI, and outlined data and manufacturing strengths.

Some big tech chief executives are urging young people to consider paths other than college, Axios reported on Aug. 15. The CEOs challenge the idea that a four-year degree is essential and offer their own alternative programmes. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said college is not for learning. Palantir runs a four-month fellowship that can lead to full-time jobs, while investor Peter Thiel funds youth projects through the Thiel Fellowship.

AWS plans to commercialise fault-tolerant quantum computer within two years, develops next-generation system with QuEra
Amazon Web Services plans to work with U.S. quantum computing startup QuEra Computing to commercialise fault-tolerant quantum computers. The companies aim to introduce an error-corrected quantum system to the AWS cloud within the next two years and unveil a next-generation quantum computer supporting large-scale logical qubits by 2028. The collaboration focuses on error-control technology, using QuEra’s neutral-atom approach and expanding AWS’s multi-architecture platform strategy.
