Korea Cable TV Association selects 16 outstanding local channel programmes for first and second quarters

The Korea Cable TV Association on Sept. 16 held its 67th awards ceremony for outstanding cable TV local channel programmes for the first and second quarters of 2026. It selected 16 winners from 93 finalists, including 8 news reports, 6 regular programmes and 2 specials. The winners covered issues such as disputes over power facility expansion, social isolation among the elderly, rental deposit fraud, housing polarization, sustainable tourism and the limits of a multi-member constituency system.

SKT to spin off SK Broadband, launch AI data centre unit SK Horizon

SK Telecom will spin off its wholly owned unit SK Broadband to separate its AI data centre business into a new company, SK Horizon, and attract 3.08 trillion won in external investment. SK Broadband will continue wireline, media and enterprise operations, while SK Horizon will run AI data centre infrastructure, including 8 existing centres and projects under construction. KKR and an IMM-Stonebridge consortium will take 29 percent and 20 percent stakes after staged investment.

NHN KCP handles stablecoin payments in about 1 second, adds cross-border remittance model

NHN KCP unveiled a model with Avalanche for stablecoin payments, on-chain settlement and cross-border remittances. It implemented a structure that reflects payment information in about 1 second and automatically transfers settlement funds hourly, and is reviewing links to existing payment agency and settlement infrastructure. The companies demonstrated four functions, including a merchant admin page and blockchain-based remittances, using PAYCO’s digital wallet.
