SKC to inject 281 billion won into Absolics to speed glass substrate commercialisation
SKC said on Thursday its board approved a 281 billion won cash investment in Absolics by participating in a shareholder rights offering. SKC will acquire 192,416 new shares allocated in line with its 70.05 percent stake. The investment follows SKC’s 1.17 trillion won rights issue in the first half of this year, when it said it would invest 590 billion won over three years in its glass substrate business.

Absolics decides 401.1 billion won rights issue to commercialise glass substrates
Competition to commercialise semiconductor substrates made of glass has entered a fundraising phase. SKC said its glass-substrate venture Absolics decided on a 401.1 billion won shareholder-allocated rights issue. Absolics plans to use the funds for glass-substrate evaluation and customer certification, and to improve yields and quality through equipment upgrades. Development is proceeding on embedding and non-embedding products. Additional investment will be executed in line with customer evaluations and milestone targets.

SKC Q2 operating loss of 14.4 billion won narrows 79 percent year-on-year
SKC posted second-quarter sales of 645.4 billion won and an operating loss of 14.4 billion won, it said on Sunday. Sales rose 38.3 percent from a year earlier and the operating loss narrowed 79.0 percent. EBITDA was 29.1 billion won, about triple the previous quarter, remaining positive for a second quarter. The company completed a 1.16 trillion won rights issue and said net debt and leverage fell sharply.
