Anthropic releases 2030 U.S. jobs and GDP scenarios as growth brings employment shock

Anthropic published a webpage outlining three economic scenarios for how AI could affect U.S. employment and GDP by 2030. It said AI may boost productivity and expand the economy while hurting knowledge-worker jobs and wages. The scenarios range from a mild impact similar to the internet to a radical case in which AI outperforms humans in most knowledge work. Anthropic projected higher GDP but warned of job transitions, higher unemployment risks and a declining labor share in the radical case.

EU smartphone repair disclosure rule still falling short after 1 year, study finds

More than 8 in 10 smartphones sold in the European Union fail to properly comply with rules requiring disclosure of repair procedures and replacement parts information, a study found. Right to Repair Europe said 82 percent of 2,334 models lacked necessary repair information. Only 18 percent provided links enabling consumers to immediately check repair steps and parts prices. The group also cited weak oversight that allows blank fields and broken links to pass.

OpenAI researchers\' AI usage surges 124-fold; top 10 percent spend $7,000 a day

OpenAI researchers\' use of artificial intelligence has surged, with output token usage rising 124-fold from November 2025 to August 2026, the report said. Converting usage to consumer API prices, the median daily spend exceeded $600, while the top 10 percent logged more than $7,000 a day. About 70 percent ran at least four AI agents at once, and AI agent work hours surpassed human hours in June, reaching 3.14 times by mid-August.
