IBM, Red Hat to invest $5 billion in open-source supply chain security, launch Project Lightwell
IBM and its subsidiary Red Hat will invest $5 billion to strengthen open-source software supply chain security and will launch Project Lightwell, the Wall Street Journal reported on May 28. The companies plan to build an enterprise clearinghouse that uses AI to detect, test and fix vulnerabilities in large-scale open-source code and will deploy 20,000 engineers worldwide. The service will be offered as a commercial subscription.
