Ripple has significantly expanded the features of its finance AI, GSmart, embedded in the corporate treasury management platform Ripple Treasury.

On Sept. 11, blockchain outlet Coin Post reported that the update focuses on widening the scope of AI use while strengthening the control and auditability that companies require.

Ripple Treasury is Ripple's corporate treasury management service launched this year. It provides liquidity management, reconciliation, risk management and payment functions. It is designed to manage cash and cryptocurrencies and stablecoins such as XRP and RLUSD in one place. It also supports real-time cross-border transfers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The newly added functions fall into three categories. First, it introduces interconnected agents that operate across forecasting and planning, liquidity management, risk management, reconciliation and reporting. It also adds Knowledge Studio, which allows users to define organisation-level policies and management rules that serve as standards for AI operation. It includes Analytics Studio as an integrated foundation for financial analysis and AI-based reporting, along with conversational assistant functions.

Ripple said the expansion will allow users to make faster, more informed decisions while maintaining the controls and auditability needed for corporate organisations. It stressed that it went beyond simply adding AI functions and designed them to operate in line with internal corporate policies.

Renato Veiga (레나토 베르 에케), senior vice president of Ripple Treasury, said corporate finance departments are under pressure to adopt AI. He said they also bear responsibilities for accountability, proper management and regulatory compliance for all financial decisions. He said GSmart does not make customers blindly trust AI systems, but operates within each organisation's financial policy framework and discloses the reasons for its recommendations. He added that it ensures humans can retain control over every decision.

Approval structures also remain people-centric. GSmart separates financial calculations from AI interpretation. A deterministic engine performs the calculations that underpin financial decisions, while AI handles policy interpretation, pattern identification, and presenting and explaining recommendations. Approval authority for all financial execution remains with the finance team.

Ripple cited corporate demand for AI governance as a driver of the enhanced functions. Based on Gartner forecasts, the number of AI agents operated by Fortune 500 companies could exceed an average of 150,000 by 2028. By contrast, Ripple said only 13 percent of organisations currently believe they have an adequate AI agent governance system. It highlighted GSmart as a platform that supports internal control systems before the spread of AI.

Ripple is also expanding AI to other product lines. In June, it launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit, a development tool for AI agent payments for XRP Ledger (XRPL) developers. By pursuing AI adoption in corporate finance alongside expanded XRPL-based development tools, Ripple is continuing to broaden the use of AI across its payments and digital asset infrastructure.
