Samsung Electronics signs AI memory deal with AMD to supply HBM4 first
Samsung Electronics will give AMD first access to its next-generation AI memory, HBM4, under an agreement signed at Samsung’s Pyeongtaek site. Executives including Jun Young-hyun and AMD CEO Lisa Su attended the signing. Samsung plans to supply HBM4 for AMD’s next-generation Instinct MI455X AI accelerator GPU. The companies will also work on DDR5 memory solutions and discuss foundry cooperation for AMD’s future products.

AMD launches 5th-gen EPYC 8005 server CPU
AMD said on Feb. 26 it launched its fifth-generation EPYC 8005 server CPU to help address economic and operational challenges in scalable virtual radio access networks. It said the chip is optimised for distributed, compute-intensive vRAN workloads and supports efficient edge platforms with space and power constraints. AMD said the CPU supports up to 84 cores in a single socket and a power range up to 225 watts. It also introduces LDPC decoding optimisation to improve Layer 1 performance.

AMD supplies large volumes of EPYC CPUs to major cloud companies
AMD has expanded its portfolio by supplying large volumes of its EPYC series CPUs to global cloud service companies, it said. AMD on Jan. 28 disclosed 2025 EPYC adoption by major cloud providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The companies are expanding EPYC-based offerings to meet growing AI and cloud computing demand, AMD said, highlighting new fifth-generation EPYC products and performance improvements across virtual machines and HPC workloads.
