Hecto Financial, KakaoBank step up cooperation on account-based payment services

Hecto Financial and KakaoBank will work together to expand account-based payment services and identify new business models. The companies plan to jointly develop next-generation payment services by combining payment infrastructure with platform competitiveness. Hecto Financial said it signed a memorandum of understanding with KakaoBank on May 19 at its headquarters in Seoul. They also plan to form a working-level consultative body to develop specific business models.

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission will hold a forum on May 21 at the Korea Broadcasting Hall in Mok-dong, Seoul, to discuss a proposed partial revision to the enforcement decree of the Information and Communications Network Act aimed at systematically responding to false and manipulated information. The event will include an explanation of the legislative background and key points, followed by expert discussions and a question-and-answer session. The commission will review forum outcomes and public comments submitted through May 27.

OpenAI, SBS to use generative AI in June 3 local election vote count broadcast

OpenAI Korea said on May 18 it has signed a business agreement with broadcaster SBS to apply generative AI to SBS’ special June 3 local election vote count programme, “2026 The People’s Choice”. The companies plan to combine SBS’ election broadcast production capabilities with OpenAI’s technology to quickly analyse and process large volumes of real-time data on election day and deliver it to viewers in a simple format.
