Five ways to speed up a slowing iPhone before buying a new one
If an older iPhone feels slower, users may want to try basic steps before upgrading, Engadget reported on Oct. 20. Performance can be affected by low storage, accumulated system data and battery degradation. Suggested measures include freeing storage space, offloading unused apps and optimizing iCloud photo storage, as well as limiting background app refresh. Reducing animations and transparency and adjusting Haptic Touch speed may also help. Checking battery health and replacing a worn battery, or resetting and restoring the device, were also presented as options.

Nintendo to raise Switch repair fees in Japan by up to 69 percent on parts costs
Nintendo will raise repair fees in Japan for the Nintendo Switch 2 and existing Switch models, with the biggest increase affecting CPU circuit board repairs. The company said it is revising console repair charges from Nov. 16 due to higher repair parts prices, applying the new rates to items that arrive after that date. Other Switch 2 repairs rise by 1,100 yen. Accessory repair fees remain unchanged.

Apple releases iOS 27.2 beta 3, signals input method changes reaching macOS
Apple has released iOS 27.2 beta 3 to developers, adding changes including an Apple Music logo refresh, Messages app controls and design tweaks. A public beta is also under way ahead of a general release later this month. The update includes signs of a planned setting to manage recommended actions in Messages and refinements to Apple Books. macOS 27.2 beta 3 also adds more traces of touchscreen-focused optimisation, including gesture recognition tools and a new long-press animation for the Dock.
