More tech companies that are not primarily known for security are increasing their influence in the cybersecurity market. Microsoft and Cisco have long operated sizeable security units and are updating product lines aimed at AI. Databricks launched its AI-based Lakewatch, while Veeam and Cohesity moved to address AI-driven data risks. Dell unveiled new security designs and cyber resilience. RSAC2026 featured multiple AI-security announcements, alongside deals, investments and regulatory changes in South Korea.

Data security company Cohesity has directly integrated a Sophos malware detection engine into its backup solution, aiming to find threats hidden in backup data and prevent reinfection during recovery. Techzine reported that Cohesity has officially added Sophos-based malware scanning to the Cohesity Data Cloud. The Sophos threat intelligence engine combines signature detection, heuristic analysis and file emulation, covering zero-day, polymorphic and fileless malware.
