AI boom reshapes U.S. corporate landscape as S&P 500 employment falls for first time in 10 years
Employment at major U.S. companies has turned to a decline as artificial intelligence spreads and firms pursue cost cuts and workforce redeployment. Total employment at S&P 500 companies fell to 28.1 million, down about 400,000 from a year earlier, marking the first annual drop since 2016. Layoffs have concentrated on white-collar roles, while some AI-related jobs command pay premiums. Companies are also cutting entry-level hiring and automating customer support and back-office work.

April Fools joke turns into spat as Ripple and Avalanche clash over bank blockchain
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse (브래드 갈링하우스) hit back at comments by Avalanche founder Emin Gun Sirer (에민 귄 시러) over which blockchain banks use. Sirer posted on X that banks choose Ripple, then said it was an April Fools joke and argued financial institutions actually use Avalanche. Garlinghouse replied that Ripple was living “rent-free” in his head. The two projects tout different institutional strategies, and Ripple also cited progress on payments and U.S. banking approvals.

Bitcoin indicator points to $58,000 after possible 15 percent drop
Bitcoin rose to around $69,300 intraday on April 1 but may fall about 15 percent to the $58,000 range after retesting that level, according to market analysis cited by The Crypto Basic. Analyst TARA said Bitcoin revisited a 0.618 Fibonacci retracement zone near $69,300 and then slipped to around $68,000. TARA said a renewed approach is possible, but viewed the rebound as part of a broader corrective wave.
