Phemex CEO says AI is bad news for crypto market

Phemex CEO Federico Variola said artificial intelligence has been broadly negative for the cryptocurrency industry, arguing it is drawing liquidity away and strengthening malicious actors through social engineering and vulnerability discovery. He said rising threats could make it harder for small protocol teams to operate without large cybersecurity budgets and could reduce the appeal of self-custody and decentralised finance. Others cited both risks and defensive uses for AI.

Nexters expands Onechain validator set as Mblock joins

Nexters added Mblock Company to its Onechain validator set, expanding the group participating in network verification. Nexters said on Sept. 16 that Mblock Company joined as a Onechain validator. Mblock, a blockchain-focused subsidiary of Maeil Business Newspaper Media Group, operates validation nodes and runs digital-asset information and content businesses. It has participated as a validator on networks including Kaia, XPLA, ZetaChain and Injective.

Nexthrus raises 3.8 billion won from KT, LGU+ and Certik as strategic shareholders

Nexthrus is bringing in KT, LG Uplus and Certik as new shareholders, expanding its telecommunications and security partnerships into an equity relationship. The company disclosed it decided at a board meeting on Sept. 10 to carry out a third-party allocation paid-in capital increase targeting the three firms. It plans to issue 2,151,443 new shares, raising about 3.8 billion won. Payment is due on Sept. 18 and the shares will be locked up for 1 year.
