Kazakhstan steps up crackdown on unlicensed crypto platforms, targeting Coinbase too

A Kazakhstan court has ordered Apple and Google to block access in the country to several foreign cryptocurrency platform apps, including Coinbase and HTX, the Astana Financial Services Authority said. The platforms listed cannot offer or advertise digital asset services within the Astana International Financial Centre until they obtain an AIFC licence. The court said unlicensed activity undermines the regulatory framework and creates unfair competition for licensed firms.

Wealthy investors eye Bitcoin as long-term diversifier, not short-term trade

Wealthy investors are increasingly viewing Bitcoin as a long-term diversification tool rather than a short-term, high-return bet, an assessment showed. Kevin Lee, chief strategy officer at crypto exchange BingX, said traditional wealth holders tend to approach Bitcoin with a longer horizon. A CoinShares survey found long-term price gains and diversification were top reasons for investing in crypto, while short-term speculation ranked lowest. JP Morgan data showed most single family offices still have no crypto exposure.

PIPC fines Bithumb 210 million won for violating overseas transfer of personal data

South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission on June 24 imposed a 210 million won fine on Bithumb for violating rules on overseas transfers of personal data and approved an order to take corrective steps to meet legal requirements. The commission launched an investigation after questions were raised during a 2025 parliamentary audit about the legality of personal data transfers linked to sharing an order book. It also established privacy guidelines for blockchain services.
