Apple develops new Apple Pencil for 2027 launch, signalling first design change under EU rules
Apple is expected to launch a next-generation Apple Pencil lineup alongside a new iPad Pro in spring 2027. Bloomberg\'s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is developing new Apple Pencil accessories and that some models may include a battery system that users can replace more easily. The move is linked to an EU battery rule taking legal effect in February 2027 requiring end users to be able to remove and replace portable batteries during a product’s lifetime.
