U.S. companies step up hiring after AI-driven pullback

The Wall Street Journal reported that firms including rail operator CSX and Google parent Alphabet have outlined plans to expand hiring to meet growth goals and pursue opportunities in new technologies. Executives cited AI-related costs and limits, while some companies are seeking to rehire after layoffs.

Berkshire Hathaway is lagging the S&P 500 so far in 2026, with its Class B shares down 1.8 percent while the index is up 10.7 percent, according to Cryptopolitan. Including dividends, the performance gap widens further, with the S&P 500 total return at 11.4 percent. AWS to launch forward deployed engineering unit with $1 billion investment
Amazon Web Services will set up a dedicated unit that will be deployed directly at corporate customer sites to help spread agent AI, SiliconANGLE reported on Monday. AWS will invest $1 billion to establish a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) division that will dispatch small teams of specialists to support AI agent adoption. The unit will cover agent customization, system integration and employee training, AWS executives said.
