New York Attorney General Letitia James (레티샤 제임스) raised strong concerns that a crypto market-structure bill being discussed in the U.S. Congress could weaken state oversight and enforcement powers. In written testimony submitted to a Senate panel, she said the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act could effectively neutralise state regulation and concentrate authority in the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. She urged keeping state powers for fraud investigations and consumer protection, citing rising complaints and reported losses of about $500 million.

U.S. Senate Republicans unveiled a revision to the digital asset market structure bill known as the Clarity Act that includes an ethics provision banning the president and all federal officials from issuing or sponsoring tokens until 2029. The draft also restricts crypto platforms from listing assets issued or backed by federal officials. Enforcement would be handled by the Justice Department. The bill’s Senate prospects remain uncertain and would require some Democratic support.
