First Vice Minister Koo Hyeok-chae attends nuclear society meeting, checks SMR research sites

Koo Hyeok-chae (구혁채), first vice minister of South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT, shared on Oct. 28 the status of R&D projects aimed at commercialising small modular reactors. On Oct. 29, he delivered a keynote at the Korean Nuclear Society’s autumn conference in Gyeongju, highlighting nuclear power’s role in meeting rising electricity demand, carbon neutrality and energy security. He also visited the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute’s proton facility and the construction site of the King Munmu Science Research Institute.

FuriosaAI raises 820 billion won in funding, valued at 3.8 trillion won

FuriosaAI said on Oct. 29 it completed an 820 billion won Series D funding round, valuing the company at about 3.8 trillion won. The round started in January with a target of 450 billion to 750 billion won, but was increased due to investor demand. The National Growth Fund contributed 370 billion won. Funds will be used to expand RNGD production and supply, grow global customers and strengthen its software ecosystem.
