Texas lieutenant governor orders review of crypto and prediction markets for next session
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, who also serves as Senate president, directed Senate committees to study and review prediction markets and cryptocurrency and blockchain issues as priorities for the next legislative session. His office issued 2026 interim charges, including examining prediction markets as potential loopholes in gambling rules and assessing coordination with federal regulations for crypto, including crypto kiosks. Texas’ next regular session is set for January 2027.

CES 2026 draws 148,000 attendees, largest since pandemic
CES 2026 wrapped up its four-day run in Las Vegas, drawing about 148,000 attendees from around the world, its biggest turnout since the pandemic. The event hosted about 6,900 global media representatives, 4,100 exhibitors and roughly 1,200 startups. Organisers said more than 55,000 attendees came from overseas. The programme included over 400 conference sessions, more than 1,300 speakers and over 200 government officials.
