Naver Plus Membership aims for subscription boost backed by World Cup

Naver Plus Membership is seeking a new surge in sign-ups around the 2026 North America World Cup. Naver will exclusively stream all matches online and on mobile via its streaming platform Chijijik, but full HD live broadcasts and complete replays will be limited to Naver Plus Membership or paid Chijijik subscribers. The company is offering coupons and added Naver Pay benefits for new users, while industry figures question whether rights costs can be recouped through subscriptions alone.

PIPC approves pre-assessment of Naver\'s AI Tab search agent

South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission reviewed and approved the results of a pre-assessment of Naver Corp\'s AI Tab search AI agent service. The commission decided Naver can operate the service legally on the condition it implements agreed measures. Naver sought the review ahead of launching the feature to ensure lawful and safe use of user data. The regulator set requirements on opt-out options, transparency and added security steps, and preventing sensitive and identifying data from being inferred or included in AI answers.

Naver to revamp AI content ecosystem with citation-based support for creators

Naver is pushing to strengthen its AI creator ecosystem while upgrading AI search, saying competition is shifting from model performance to data, content quality and user experience. It will launch a creator support program, Naver Mate, in June that pays incentives based on how often AI Briefing cites a creator’s posts. Naver will also open its AI tab to all users in late June and expand AI Briefing coverage to 40 percent this year.
