MOTIE sets up Semiconductor Innovation Growth Support Division to handle mega projects

South Korea\'s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has expanded its semiconductor policy organisation to bureau level by creating the Semiconductor Innovation Growth Support Division. The ministry said a cabinet meeting on Oct. 13 approved a decree revising its organisational rules to establish the unit, aimed at handling statutory duties under a new law and overseeing semiconductor mega projects. The ministry also said it will create an India Trade Cooperation Division.

South Korea mandates linking government AI training data to AI Hub

South Korea is moving to require AI training data built through government projects to be linked and provided through the national data platform AI Hub. The Ministry of Science and ICT said amendments to the Framework Act on AI and the Data Industry Act passed a cabinet meeting. The bills also expand a one-window service that consolidates information on where public and private datasets are held. The measures would take effect six months after promulgation.

KT DS wins ISO/IEC 42001 certification for AI management system

KT DS said on Monday it obtained ISO/IEC 42001 certification, an international standard for AI management systems jointly established by the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission. The certification followed an audit by the Korea Standards Association covering KT DS AI platforms AICentro and Beast AI Gateway and related development, operation and governance processes. The company said it met all ISO/IEC 42001 requirements.
