Hong Kong regulator issues first stablecoin licences to HSBC and Anchorpoint

Hong Kong's monetary authority has issued the city’s first stablecoin licences to HSBC and Anchorpoint Financial, The Block reported on Thursday. Anchorpoint Financial is a joint venture set up by Standard Chartered, Animoca Brands and Hong Kong telecoms company HKT. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority added HSBC and Anchorpoint Financial Limited to its list of stablecoin licence holders. CEO Eddie Yue called the move a milestone for digital assets.

StarkWare researcher proposes way to block quantum attacks on bitcoin without soft fork

A StarkWare researcher has published a paper proposing a way to protect bitcoin transactions from quantum-computing attacks without a soft fork. The paper introduces “Quantum Safe Bitcoin,” or QSB, which aims to add quantum resistance using only existing legacy script constraints. It replaces elliptic-curve cryptography with a Binohash-based structure using one-time signatures and a new hash-to-signature puzzle. The author said the approach is costly, at about $75 to $150 per transaction.

UBS downgrades ServiceNow to neutral, citing wavering confidence in AI-era advantage

UBS on Thursday downgraded enterprise software company ServiceNow to neutral from buy and cut its price target to $100 from $170. Analyst Karl Keirstead said UBS had kept ServiceNow as its only buy-rated application software stock on the view it was better positioned than rivals in the AI era, but that conviction has weakened and instances of non-AI software budget pressure are increasing. UBS also flagged three specific concerns raised in customer discussions.
