Korea Internet Companies Association opposes cap on crypto exchange stakes

The Korea Internet Companies Association has pushed back against financial authorities' moves to limit major shareholders' stakes in virtual asset exchanges. It said a proposed cap of 15 to 20 percent would amount to excessive regulation and could violate private property rights and constitutional principles. The group also warned the measure could hurt global competitiveness, deter investment in startups and raise risks of hostile foreign takeovers and an outflow of profits and decision-making power overseas.
