Daedong wins government certification for autonomous agricultural machinery

Daedong said on Jan. 13 that its autonomous transport robot and combine harvester have received a new-technology agricultural machinery certification from South Korea's Rural Development Administration, a first for the industry. The company said the certification confirms its autonomous driving and precision automatic control technology. The transport robot supports wired, remote-control and autonomous modes and can navigate to up to 11 designated stops. The DH-6135-A combine offers three-stage autonomous operation features.

SK Hynix to invest 19 trillion won in packaging fab in Cheongju

SK Hynix will build an advanced packaging fab, P&T7, in Cheongju with total investment of 19 trillion won, it said on Jan. 13. The plant will carry out advanced packaging processes needed for AI memory such as HBM. Construction is to start in April 2026 on a 70,000-pyeong site in the Cheongju Technopolis industrial complex, with completion targeted for the end of 2027.

KOSPI hits record high again on U.S. tailwinds

South Korea's KOSPI opened higher on Tuesday and extended its winning streak to eight sessions, setting a fresh all-time high. As of 9:40 a.m., the index was up 34.23 points, or 0.74 percent, at 4,659.02 after briefly rising to 4,672.04. Individuals and institutions were net buyers, while foreign investors stayed net sellers for a fourth session. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix slipped.
