Disney+ to air esports tournament in first global exclusive broadcast

Disney+ said it will exclusively stream all matches of the 2025 LoL KeSPA Cup, which opens on Dec. 6 and will be available in 11 Asia-Pacific regions including South Korea. Fourteen teams from Korea, Japan, Vietnam and the United States will compete. The service will offer Korean and English commentary and provide fan‑engagement content and giveaways. Disney+ signed an exclusive broadcasting deal with the Korea e-Sports Association in September and plans to release Asian Games national team esports content next year.

KT CEO candidate longlist cut to seven

KT has trimmed its CEO candidate pool to seven in its second round of selection. The board is expected to conduct online interviews on December 9 and confirm a final nominee on December 16. The list includes former executives from KT, Samsung SDS, SK Shields and public institutions, as well as one internal candidate. Several contenders outlined their experience in telecoms, ICT innovation and AI infrastructure as they presented their vision for the company.

Ministry of Science and ICT reports results of quantum‑resistant cryptography rollout in energy, healthcare and administration

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said it has applied quantum‑resistant cryptography to systems in the energy, healthcare and administrative sectors and shared results at a Seoul event. Korea Electric Power Corp, Raonsecure and LG Uplus presented pilot cases. The ministry said the transition produced 16 cryptographic modules and 19 conversion cases and resolved performance issues, including use on low‑spec devices. It plans to broaden support to telecoms, defence and finance next year.
