Gauntlet raises $125 million in Series C to expand stablecoin-supported currencies

Crypto yield curator Gauntlet raised $125 million in a Series C round. A recent report by The Block said Japan's SBI Holdings made the sole investment through its U.S. subsidiary, SBI Holdings USA. Gauntlet plans to use the funds to expand stablecoin-supported currencies beyond the dollar and euro to include the Mexican peso and Japanese yen. It also plans to launch new on-chain products and expand its global team with AI-assisted operations.

PayPal to issue PYUSD natively on Polygon to expand supply

PayPal is expanding cooperation with the Polygon network to increase adoption of its stablecoin, PYUSD. The Block reported that PayPal will issue PYUSD natively on Polygon and make it available through Polygon's Open Money Stack, aiming to help companies use PYUSD more easily for global payment settlement. Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron said the setup can enable firms to receive funds, move them across borders and cash out through a single compliance-enabled integration.

Netflix expands beyond films and TV into YouTube-style content, testing its identity

Netflix is expanding beyond films and dramas into games, live sports, podcasts and YouTube videos, in a shift some describe as a move toward becoming more like YouTube. The Verge discussed the strategy on its Vergecast podcast on July 10. Hosts said Netflix’s recent moves look busy and possibly slightly desperate as it adds genres and formats. Others said the expansion fits its long-running fight for users’ time. The key question is whether the approach will succeed.
