Crypto exchange Kraken is preparing to relaunch an app centered on AI agent-based trading. CNBC reported on July 10 that Kraken plans to respond to a new competitive phase among crypto exchanges by highlighting a feature in which AI handles investment decisions and trade execution based on user instructions.
Agent-based trading, unlike existing automated trading that follows only fixed rules, reviews multiple market variables and incorporates new information to carry out investment goals. Kraken envisions a new platform in which AI agents continuously monitor markets, look for investment opportunities and execute trades in real time.
The app also applies AI to initial setup. The AI assesses users' goals, risk tolerance, preferences for managing funds and financial situation at once and then presents a draft portfolio. Users can review, modify and approve it, and the AI explains the reasons for its recommendations.
After investing, it provides portfolio-related news, information summarized by AI and ways to use idle funds. Kraken plans over time to customize even users' conversation style and the app interface.
Chief Data Officer Camo Aghasatrian (카모 아사트리안) said AI can reduce the information gap between ordinary users and professional traders. He said professional traders continue to trade actively even in down markets, and that ordinary users also need similar response capabilities and access to information.
Coinbase and Gemini have also recently rolled out AI-supported trading features and developer tools. Kraken sees AI not as a temporary fad but as a growth opportunity even as crypto prices remain weak.
