MSIT hears views from CES innovation award-winning companies

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT held a meeting in Las Vegas with Korean companies that won innovation awards and AI champion awards at CES 2026. Companies including Mobilint, PersonaAI, DeepX and HL Mando attended, along with AI champion award winners such as Stratio Korea and Vacatio. Participants discussed ICT technology commercialisation and scale-up, stressing the need to link ICT R&D with follow-on support and policies to help firms overcome funding and reference shortages.

Polygon Labs unveils Open Money Stack targeting stablecoin payments

Polygon Labs has unveiled a modular framework called Open Money Stack aimed at stablecoin-based payments, CoinDesk reported on Jan. 8. The framework focuses on simplifying payments across blockchains and cross-border value transfers. Due to launch by the end of this year, it is designed to let financial institutions and fintech firms integrate on-chain payments, fiat access and compliance tools, CoinDesk said.

Optimism seeks OP token buybacks using 50 percent of Superchain revenue

The Optimism Foundation has proposed using 50 percent of Superchain revenue to buy back OP tokens, CoinDesk reported on Wednesday. The proposal will be put to a governance vote on Jan. 22. If approved, Optimism plans to begin monthly buybacks from February using sequencer fee revenue generated by blockchains built on the OP Stack. OP Stack chains include Coinbase's Base, Uniswap's Unichain and Sony's Soneium.
