Truebit DeFi token on Ethereum plunges 99.9% after hack

Ethereum-based verification and computation protocol Truebit has been hit by a security incident, with assets worth 8,535 ether, or about $26.6 million, stolen. Truebit said on X it was aware of a security incident caused by a malicious actor and was working with law enforcement. Lookonchain estimated the stolen amount at about 8,535 ether. TRU slid 99.9% to $0.00007721 from $0.16.

Sharplink makes $33 million from Ethereum staking, adds $170 million more

Corporate cryptocurrency holders are actively using Ethereum staking as a way to generate returns, Cointelegraph reported. Sharplink Gaming earned 10,657 ETH, worth $33 million, over seven months and recently staked an additional $170 million in Ethereum. It has 864,840 ETH staked in total. Bitmine Immersion Technologies has also staked 936,512 ETH, worth $2.87 billion. Morgan Stanley has applied for a spot Ethereum ETF to target staking income.

Bitget daily trading volume surpasses $2 billion after TradFi platform launch

Crypto exchange Bitget is accelerating the expansion of its TradFi platform that allows trading of traditional assets in a crypto-style format. The service, launched on Jan. 5, topped $2 billion in daily trading volume within four days, The Block reported. The platform supports trading of gold, major currency pairs, oil and global indexes, with settlements based on USDT. Bitget described it as part of its UEX strategy and outlined plans for a broader integrated exchange.
