ICE invests in OKX to boost tokenised stocks push

Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, has invested in cryptocurrency exchange OKX as it steps up its push into the tokenised stock market, Cointelegraph reported on March 5. ICE valued OKX at $25 billion in the investment. ICE will join OKX’s board and plans to provide tokenised NYSE-listed stocks and derivatives from 2026.

SoFi launches bank-issued stablecoin SoFiUSD in partnership with BitGo

Fintech platform SoFi Technologies will launch SoFiUSD, a stablecoin that complies with U.S. federal regulations, in partnership with digital asset custodian BitGo, Cointelegraph reported on March 5. SoFiUSD is described as the first stablecoin issued on a public blockchain by a federally chartered depository bank. BitGo will support issuance through its stablecoin-as-a-service platform and help connect it to payment firms, market participants and crypto exchanges.

U.S. regulators apply same capital rules to tokenised securities

U.S. financial regulators will apply the same capital requirements to tokenised securities as to traditional securities, Cointelegraph reported on Thursday. The Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued joint guidance and said they would assess tokenised securities from a technology-neutral perspective. The guidance says blockchain-based trading does not affect capital treatment and that derivatives referencing tokenised securities face the same rules.
