Kakao Games likely to adopt co-CEO system with Kim Taehwan and Lee Siwoo; extraordinary meeting set for June 22

Kakao Games plans to hold an extraordinary shareholders meeting later this month to reshuffle its board. Kim Taehwan, a vice president at LINE Games, and Lee Siwoo, the company’s chief business officer, were nominated as inside directors and could take up posts as co-CEOs after appointment. The board changes are conditional on completion of a deal that would make LAAA Investment, funded by Line Yahoo, the company’s largest shareholder.

Tving hack also leaks 'digital resident number', raising fears of secondary harm

A data breach at South Korean streaming platform Tving has expanded fears of secondary harm after linked information (CI) was included among leaked items. An unidentified hacker allegedly gained unauthorised access to Tving’s user database and sent customer data outside the company. Authorities including the Ministry of Science and ICT, KISA and the Personal Information Protection Commission have launched investigations, while experts warn CI can enable identity theft when combined with other personal details.

Netmarble to sell Seoul G-Tower headquarters for 697.7 billion won

Netmarble will sell G-Tower in Seoul's Guro district, which it has used as its headquarters, for 697.7 billion won to secure financial flexibility and reorganise its asset portfolio. The company said its board approved disposing of the land and building. The buyer is NH Investment & Securities in its capacity as trustee for an affiliated real estate investment trust, with settlement expected on June 12. The company is building a new headquarters in Gwacheon.
