Intel unveils 18A-based Core Ultra Series 3, declares leadership in AI PCs

Intel unveiled its first flagship processor based on its 18A process, Core Ultra Series 3, in South Korea. The company said it chose South Korea as the first regional launch market after sales began in the United States, citing the strategic importance of the local AI PC market. Intel showcased more than 30 AI PC laptop designs from nine makers including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. Executives highlighted power efficiency, hybrid core redesign and performance gains over the prior generation.

KCA says satisfaction with electromagnetic field meter rental service hits 90.6 percent

Korea Communications Agency said on Jan. 28 that a satisfaction survey of users of its electromagnetic field meter rental service showed more than 90 percent of respondents were satisfied. The online survey ran from last month’s Jan. 8 to 26 and drew 968 responses. It said users’ perceived safety level improved from 49.1 points to 77.1 points. It added 96.0 percent said they would recommend the service.

Science ministry and SMEs ministry hold briefing for startups to avoid confusion over AI Basic Law

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT held an “AI Startup Growth Strategy Briefing” with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups on Jan. 28 in Seoul to share key provisions of the AI Basic Law with AI startups. The ministries also explained related legislation and support programmes, including AI Challenge and Deep Tech Challenge Project. Officials said they would operate the law to avoid hindering innovation and strengthen communication with startups.
