Bithumb says assistant manager approved 60 trillion won mispayment, cites two similar past incidents

Bithumb said two similar mispayment incidents occurred in the past in addition to the latest case, according to remarks at an emergency inquiry by the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee. It also said approval authority in the latest incident rested with an assistant manager-level employee. Lawmakers from both parties criticised the case as a structural problem stemming from inadequate internal controls. CEO Lee Jae-won said internal control procedures were omitted during a system upgrade.

Com2uS unveils Summoners War x The Lord of the Rings limited merchandise, opens preorders

Com2uS said on Tuesday it has unveiled limited-edition merchandise combining the universes of Summoners War: Sky Arena and The Lord of the Rings and has begun global preorder sales. Preorders open worldwide via the Com2uS Store. Korea and global shops take orders through March 10, with shipping starting in late March. Thailand, Taiwan and Europe take orders for about two weeks, with deliveries starting in April.

MSIT steps up push to join top three in AI, R&D overhaul, telecom bill relief

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said it will focus this year on policies to help the country advance into the top three in artificial intelligence. Vice Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon said the government would secure a world-class homegrown AI model and accelerate AI innovation in areas of strength such as manufacturing and shipbuilding. The ministry also plans reforms to government R&D, stronger information security measures and steps to reduce households' telecommunications costs.
