LG Electronics has released a gaming monitor that combines an ultra-high refresh rate and high resolution. LG Electronics said on Tuesday it will launch in South Korea a new UltraGear model, the 25G590B, that delivers “native 1,000Hz” by supporting a 1,000Hz refresh rate as standard at FHD resolution. Refresh rate refers to how many times the screen is updated per second, and higher figures make transitions smoother.

Conventional gaming monitors have struggled to offer both ultra-high refresh rates and high resolution. Dual-mode 1,000Hz monitors reduced screen size or resolution when users selected the maximum refresh rate. As a result, gamers who wanted faster transitions had to lower image quality to as little as HD (1,280x720). The new model supports a 1,000Hz refresh rate while maintaining FHD (1,920x1,080) resolution.

The new model keeps fine detail in backgrounds and objects while tracking enemy movement in first-person shooter games with rapid screen changes. It uses an IPS panel, known for wide viewing angles and color reproduction. It also applies “Motion Blur Reduction Pro” technology to reduce afterimages and make it easier to track moving objects. It includes “AI customized picture quality,” which adjusts image quality by recognizing content, and an “AI sound” function that delivers the direction of footsteps in 3D.

The stand base is up to 49 percent smaller than the previous model, the 25G550B, securing desk space. The company said the design takes into account gamers with a wide range of movement for mouse and keyboard use. LG UltraGear ranks No. 1 in domestic gaming monitor market share in the first quarter of 2026, based on IDC data.

Lee Choong-hwan (이충환), head of the display business division at LG Electronics’ MS Business Division, said, “This new product captures both of the core elements gamers want: refresh rate and picture quality.” He said it will “present a new standard for gaming displays.”
