Post office expands preferential rate for soldiers' savings to up to 11 percent
The Ministry of Science and ICT's Postal Service said it will raise the interest rate on its Post Office Soldiers' Tomorrow Preparation Savings product to as high as 11 percent a year to help service members prepare for a stable return to civilian life. The base rate is 5.0 percent. Those joining from April 10 can receive preferential rates totaling 6.0 percentage points, depending on conditions such as first-time use, auto transfers, card use and basic livelihood support status.

Amazon to end support for older Kindle devices
Amazon will end support on May 20 for Kindle models released before 2012. Users will still be able to read e-books already downloaded, but will no longer be able to buy or download new titles on the devices. After the change was emailed to users, criticism spread in online communities, TechRadar reported. Users cite continued functionality, the single-purpose nature of e-readers and concerns about electronic waste. Some plan to use sideloading as a workaround.

AWS CEO says no conflict of interest in backing OpenAI and Anthropic
Amazon Web Services said there is no conflict of interest in making large investments in both OpenAI and Anthropic. AWS CEO Matt Garman said at the HumanX conference in San Francisco that backing OpenAI with a $50 billion investment alongside a long-term partnership with Anthropic that includes an $8 billion investment reflects how AWS has long operated. He said technology is tightly connected and competition with partners is unavoidable, adding AWS has maintained a principle of not giving itself an unfair advantage.
