[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee] KT M Mobile said on Aug. 27 its eSIM data roaming service 'mobi' won the Grand Prix, the top award in the digital experience innovation category, at ICT Award Korea 2026.
ICT Award Korea is an ICT awards programme hosted by the Korea Information Science Promotion Association and Sungkyunkwan University, and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT. This year’s ceremony was held on Aug. 26 at the Science and Technology Convention Center in Seoul’s Gangnam district.
Mobi was recognised for improving the eSIM roaming process from the customer’s perspective. The 'Activation Check' feature, which lets users confirm in Korea before departure that an eSIM is working properly, received high marks.
KT M Mobile simplified the eSIM registration, setup and activation process through step-by-step guides and an easy registration feature. Users can buy products without separate sign-up, and the service also offers a gifting feature that allows eSIM products to be sent using only a contact number, as well as year-round customer support.
Mobi also won a main award in the brand and communication design category at the 2026 Red Dot Design Award in July.
KT M Mobile is running a promotion through Aug. 31 offering an unlimited mobi data plan for 990 won per day for use in four Asian countries including Japan, China, Vietnam and Taiwan.
Kim Ui-hyeon (김의현), CEO of KT M Mobile, said, "It is meaningful that services designed from the customer’s perspective, including the Activation Check feature, led to this award." He said, "We will continue to build an eSIM roaming service that customers can use easily and with peace of mind."
