[DigitalToday reporter Daegeon Seok] Humax Mobility achieved an operating profit in the first half by improving profitability in its parking and electric-vehicle charging infrastructure. Cumulative first-half revenue was 130.6 billion won and operating profit was 1.85 billion won. It swung to profit, improving by 10.7 billion won from an 8.9 billion won loss in the year-earlier period. Second-quarter consolidated revenue was 67.2 billion won.

After returning to profit in the first quarter, it increased its profit in the second quarter. It posted profits for two consecutive quarters. The company said its core mobility infrastructure businesses, including parking and EV charging, led the improvement.

HiParking, its parking infrastructure unit, posted first-half revenue of 98.6 billion won and operating profit of 7.9 billion won. Operating profit rose 66 percent from a year earlier and its operating margin increased to 8 percent from 5 percent.

Humax EV, its EV charging unit, posted first-half revenue of 23.0 billion won, up 28 percent from a year earlier. Its operating loss narrowed and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) swung to profit at about 3.0 billion won. It has recorded positive EBITDA for four straight quarters since last year.

As revenue growth coincides with improved profitability, the company expects the timing of a return to operating profit to be brought forward. It said it plans to continue improving efficiency in parking operations and profitability in EV charging in the second half, and to strengthen competitiveness by advancing operations based on AI and data.

Jung Sung-min (정성민), chief executive of Humax Mobility, said, "Strengthening competitiveness in core infrastructure businesses such as parking and EV charging is leading to tangible improvements in profitability." He added, "We will develop the parking and charging infrastructure we have built nationwide, our operational know-how and data-based technological capabilities into a core mobility hub for the era of autonomous driving and robotaxis, while strengthening both a foundation for stable profit generation and our position as a future infrastructure operator."
