Ceragem is joining an industry-academia-research-medical cooperation ecosystem in the brain-computer interface field as it moves to strengthen competitiveness in future healthcare technology. Ceragem said on Aug. 27 it attended the launch ceremony of the BCI Alliance held on Aug. 26 at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul.

The BCI Alliance is a cooperation platform that links domestic researchers, companies, medical institutions and research institutes in the BCI field. It was 추진됐다 to build a cooperation foundation spanning research, clinical work and industrialisation. Ceragem CEO Kyung-soo Lee (이경수) was among nine key figures included in the official launch declaration as a member company of the Korea BCI Association.

BCI is a technology that analyses signals generated in the brain and connects to and controls external devices. It is seen as a core technology for developing new healthcare services and medical devices, including in medical and rehabilitation fields. In June, the Korea BCI Association was officially launched to foster BCI as a national strategic technology. Member companies such as Ceragem and W-Brain have joined the association to promote BCI technology innovation and industry revitalisation.

Ceragem will cooperate with researchers, companies and medical institutions through the BCI Alliance and review the possibility of developing healthcare technology using BCI. Ceragem plans to identify links between BCI and its existing healthcare technologies based on medical device technology and healthcare know-how accumulated over the past 28 years.

A Ceragem official said, "BCI is a representative future technology field where brain science, medicine and advanced technology converge." The official added, "Through participation in this alliance, we will work with experts in related fields to help develop new healthcare technologies and strengthen domestic BCI competitiveness."
