Apple AI chief John Giannandrea to leave, did Siri play a role

Apple Senior Vice President John Giannandrea, who has overseen the company’s machine learning and AI strategy, is expected to leave the company this week, PhoneArena reported. His departure is linked to the vesting of Apple stock awards scheduled for April 15, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman wrote. Gurman said Apple Intelligence’s weak performance was not necessarily Giannandrea’s fault, citing limits on authority for external hires and an initially cautious stance on AI within Apple’s leadership.
