Netmarble's 'Stone Age Raising' tops popularity charts on Apple and Google in South Korea

Netmarble said on Thursday that its new idle mobile RPG 'Stone Age Raising' has topped popularity rankings on South Korea's Google Play store, following its earlier rise to No. 1 on Apple's App Store. Released on March 3, the title is the latest game based on the 'Stone Age' intellectual property that 200 million people worldwide have played. Netmarble is running launch events offering in-game items and pet rewards.

KOSPI recovers 5,500 after 'Iran shock'; Kosdaq jumps 14 percent

South Korea's stock market rebounded sharply on Thursday as bargain hunting followed the previous session's more than 12 percent plunge blamed on an 'Iran shock'. The KOSPI surged 9.63 percent to close at 5,583.90, led by heavy net buying from retail investors, while foreigners and institutions sold. Large-cap shares rose broadly, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The Kosdaq jumped 14.10 percent to 1,116.41. The won weakened to 1,467.90 per dollar.

Broadcast Media Communication Commission extends small merchants' store info text service by 2 years

South Korea’s Broadcast Media Communication Commission said on March 5 it will extend by 2 years an exemption allowing telecom operators to automatically send text messages with small merchants’ store information to customers who inquire by phone or make reservations, without prior explicit consent. The commission first allowed the service in 2022 to support small businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak. It said there are about 20,000 subscribers.
