KakaoPay Securities reappoints CEO Shin Ho-cheol for second term

KakaoPay Securities reappointed Chief Executive Shin Ho-cheol at its annual shareholders meeting on March 31, extending his term through March 2027. Shin, who took office in March 2024, improved the company’s profit structure by upgrading investment services and expanding its financial product lineup, delivering its first annual profit since launch. In his second term, he plans to use AI to raise work efficiency and improve service quality while expanding products and investment information services.

Nium launches stablecoin card issuance platform based on Visa and Mastercard

Global payments infrastructure company Nium has launched a platform that can issue stablecoin-based cards on the Visa and Mastercard networks, Cointelegraph reported on March 30. The company said the platform focuses on allowing stablecoin balances to be spent at merchants through existing card payment networks. It converts stablecoin balances into fiat currency at the time of payment and then handles settlement, regulatory compliance and card network integration.

KRX develops joint indexes with Hang Seng Indexes Company

Korea Exchange agreed on Tuesday to develop joint indexes with Hang Seng Indexes Company and announced four new indexes, including one flagship index and three theme indexes such as tech and bio. The indexes combine benchmark and semiconductor and biotech themes from South Korea and Hong Kong, with a 65 percent Hong Kong and 35 percent South Korea weighting. The structure is designed to meet ETF Connect requirements and be maintained through monthly rebalancing.
