U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a "Super Intelligence Force" (SIF) to oversee artificial intelligence policy. Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton (제이 클레이튼) will serve as chair.

On Oct. 4 local time, major foreign media outlets including U.S. tech news site TechCrunch reported that Trump posted on social media platform Truth Social that the SIF will be tasked with coordinating federal government efforts so the United States continues to lead the world in super intelligence. He also stressed it would protect the interests of all Americans and improve lives from super intelligence, which he said is being judged bigger than the Industrial Revolution and the internet.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the vice chairs will be Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson (앤드루 퍼거슨), Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael (에밀 마이클), and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor (스콧 쿠퍼). The SIF is known to report directly to Trump and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles (수전 와일스). Clayton is known to be expected to hold the post concurrently while remaining DNI director. Clayton served as chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission during Trump’s first term, and has been leading the intelligence agencies after winning Senate confirmation in July.

The SIF must issue a report within 120 days of its launch analyzing the risks and opportunities that AI will bring. It is also reported to include plans to respond to social threats caused by super intelligence, while preventing excessive regulation and regulatory capture that hinder innovation and competition.
