[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] LG Uplus said on Oct. 5 it will work with global subscription platform company Bango to offer overseas AI and content services that have been difficult to use in South Korea on its subscription platform, Youdoc.

LG Uplus plans to launch a video editing AI service on Youdoc in November. It then plans to sequentially expand new offerings, including generative AI, productivity AI and creative AI, as well as a range of global content services.

The companies plan to cooperate on discovering AI and content services at home and abroad, linking new subscription services, planning bundled products tailored to customer demand and expanding the digital subscription ecosystem. They will use Bango's subscription integration platform, Digital Vending Machine (DVM).

LG Uplus plans to use DVM to streamline contracts, system integration and product launch procedures for new services on Youdoc. It will introduce AI and content services from South Korea and overseas. It also plans to offer various bundled subscription products tailored to customer purposes and service characteristics by combining Bango's global service network with LG Uplus' product planning capabilities. It plans to gradually introduce global content services specialised in specific areas of interest to continue strengthening Youdoc's competitiveness.

LG Uplus currently offers AI services across areas including search, design, video editing and education on Youdoc, including Google AI Pro. It also operates YoudocPick AI, which allows users to choose and use the AI services they want from among multiple offerings.

Jo Yong-sung (조용성), executive director in charge of partnership business at LG Uplus, said customer demand for subscriptions is rapidly expanding beyond content into AI and productivity services. He said the partnership will make it easier and more convenient for customers in South Korea to use a range of global AI services and will continue to strengthen Youdoc's AI subscription competitiveness.
