OP Enterprise, a blockchain infrastructure and operations service released for businesses by Optimism developer OP Labs, will be used to run Soneium, Sony’s layer-2 blockchain.

In a recent announcement on the Optimism website, the Optimism Foundation and OP Labs said they will support Soneium operations in a fully managed model. In addition to deployment, upgrades, and sequencer and node infrastructure operations, the foundation and OP Labs will also handle day-to-day monitoring and incident response.

The two sides signed a service-level agreement, setting a monthly uptime target of 99.9 percent. They will respond 24/7 in emergencies.

Soneium will retain blockchain ownership and the authority to decide the roadmap. It will continue to take part in engineering work. The Soneium team plans to continue developing tokenised intellectual property and on-chain entertainment applications, including on-chain royalty distribution and IP tools for AI.

Soneium has previously operated on the OP Stack. This cooperation focuses on fully managed operations support via OP Enterprise. It does not include interoperability or cross-chain functions.
