Shinhan Bank extends preferential FX rates, fee waiver for creators' overseas income
Shinhan Bank said on Jan. 14 it will extend through March 31 the period for preferential benefits on its CreatorPlus automatic deposit service for creator customers. The service supports automatic deposits of overseas advertising payments received from Google and Meta into Shinhan Bank accounts. Benefits include a waiver of a 10,000 won inbound remittance fee and a 90 percent FX rate discount for won conversion up to $10,000 a month.

AI PC outlook clouds amid memory shortage as manufacturers shift strategies
Rising RAM prices are weighing on PC buyers and upgrade demand, but may ease fatigue over AI PC marketing, analysts say. Ars Technica forecasts a 40 to 70 percent jump in 2025 PC memory and storage costs as shortages worsen. IDC expects PC makers to raise prices 15 to 20 percent and lower average memory. Analysts say higher costs and weak demand could push AI PCs to prove practical value.

Korea sets 2026 core source technology development plan with 2.35 trillion won investment
South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT confirmed a 2026 implementation plan for its core source technology development programme valued at 2.35 trillion won and will push ahead with the projects, it said on Tuesday. The plan covers semiconductors, displays and secondary batteries, with six projects to receive new support worth 24 billion won. It includes continued work on next-generation semiconductor technologies, expanded online fab links, new display R&D and support for next-generation battery technologies and related talent development.
