Bang Jun-hyuk to buy 13.4 percent stake in Netmarble for 374 billion won

Netmarble’s controlling shareholder will strengthen his grip after chairman Bang Jun-hyuk (방준혁) agrees to buy a 13.4 percent stake for 374 billion won. Netmarble said in a regulatory filing on Thursday that the shares will be acquired from Tencent affiliate Han River Investment, which holds 18.1 percent of the company. After the transaction, Bang’s stake will rise from 24.93 percent to 38.34 percent. Netmarble said business cooperation with Tencent will continue.

Samsung Electronics approves 110 trillion won shareholder returns, largest ever for Korean company

Samsung Electronics will pursue the largest shareholder returns plan in South Korean corporate history. The company said its board on Aug. 21 approved a 2026 shareholder returns plan estimated at 90 to 110 trillion won, about five times the previous peak in 2020. The decision follows its 2024 to 2026 policy to use 50 percent of free cash flow for shareholder returns. Details will be finalised later this year and next January.

TTA wins CE certified testing lab status, moves to respond to EU CRA

The Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) said on Thursday it has been designated as a CE certified testing laboratory by Nemko Group, an EU CE certification body. The move is aimed at responding to the EU Cyber Resilience Act, which will be fully applied from December 2027. TTA said the designation will allow it to conduct CE certification tests for Korean companies’ digital products and support CE certification procedures in Korea through cooperation with EU certification bodies.
