Webtoon Entertainment, the parent of Naver Webtoon, showcased webtoon titles and a new Marvel Comics app at New York Comic Con and expanded cooperation on producing animations based on webtoon originals.

Webtoon Entertainment said on Oct. 12 it took part in New York Comic Con 2026, held Oct. 8 to 11 local time at the Javits Center in New York. The company has attended the event for three consecutive years since 2024.

This year it ran two standalone booths, one introducing webtoons and the other introducing the Marvel Comics app.

The 330-square-meter webtoon booth was designed around the world of the Korean webtoon 'Fogland'. It installed a 6-meter-high structure and held webtoon viewing events, costume play and sales of limited-edition goods.

A writer signing event featured 5 North American webtoon creators, and Pogo, the creator of 'Fogland', held a signing event in the United States for the first time. Webtoon Entertainment said about 50,000 people visited the booth during the four-day event.

At a separate booth, Webtoon Entertainment unveiled the Marvel Comics app it develops and operates. The app is scheduled for official release on Nov. 16 and will offer more than 35,000 digital comics, including titles from Marvel, Star Wars and 20th Century Studios.

The event also announced plans for cooperation on producing animations based on webtoon originals. Webtoon Entertainment's Japan unit Line Digital Frontier, Japanese production company Hayate and animation streaming platform Crunchyroll agreed to cooperate from the development stage on about 15 webtoon titles whose animation potential is under review.

In the process, 'The Remarried Empress' and 'The Boxer' were newly unveiled as titles for animation development, and a promotional video for the 'Mercenary Enrollment' animation was also shown.

Webtoon Entertainment also took part in five panel sessions during the event with partners, creators and industry officials. Discussions covered topics including the global expansion of digital comics, the romance genre and Webtoon Entertainment's future business.

Junkoo Kim (김준구), chief executive of Webtoon Entertainment, said, "At Comic Con, we confirmed the interest in webtoons from fans and the industry," and added, "We will work so that more stories and fandoms can connect."
