A claim has emerged that even hardline bitcoin supporters could sell BTC and move into XRP if XRP sets a new all-time high.

On Aug. 3, blockchain outlet Decrypt reported that Vandell Aljarrah, co-founder of Black Swan Capitalist, offered the outlook on X, formerly Twitter.

Aljarrah said market sentiment could shift quickly if XRP starts a sharp rally and posts a record high. "If XRP reaches a new all-time high, there is a high chance bitcoin maximalists will dump BTC and move to XRP," he said.

The remarks drew an immediate response, led by the XRP community. Some market participants agreed with Aljarrah. Technical analyst ChartNerd also raised a similar possibility, but said even if people who have invested only in bitcoin do move into XRP, the timing could be late. "By then, it will already be too late," he said. That would mean they could miss the core part of the rally if they chase the move after a sharp rise in XRP.

An opposite view also emerged that some would not change their stance to the end. Christopher Schwartz said some bitcoin supporters may not shift positions because of strong convictions. He argued that many of them view XRP extremely negatively and would try to maintain their existing stance rather than admit they were wrong.

The market debate is ultimately focused on price levels and the possibility of reclaiming past highs. XRP has recently been around $1.06, down about 42 percent from the start of the year. Bitcoin is at $62,565, down about 28.5 percent over the same period. Both assets have been weak this year, but Aljarrah's claim focuses on which asset could show stronger momentum in a future upswing.

Measured from their peaks, the gap is clearer. Bitcoin rose as high as $126,200 in October 2025 and has since fallen about 50.14 percent. To reclaim that peak, it would need to rise about 101.7 percent from the current price. XRP hit $3.66 in July 2025, but CoinMarketCap lists its official all-time high as $3.84 in 2018. To break above that level, it would need to rise about 262 percent from the current price.

Against that backdrop, comments by DaVinci Jeremie, who had strongly backed bitcoin last year, are again drawing attention. Jeremie had been critical of XRP, but in March 2025 he said technical trends looked bullish.

At the time, he said, "I'm not an XRP fan. But technical analysis doesn't care about my opinion," and mentioned that XRP could move above $20 over time. The remarks drew attention in the community because someone who had long been negative on XRP acknowledged upside potential from a technical perspective. Even then, criticism and welcome were mixed, and Aljarrah's comments have in effect reignited that debate.

The key questions going forward are whether XRP can actually break past its previous peak and whether that process brings a shift of funds by bitcoin-focused investors. For now, forecasts by some figures and community reactions have come first, and the market is in a phase of watching whether prices rebound.
